Beaches In Cornwall
Crylla Valley Cottages is located in South East Cornwall situated within easy reach of a choice of sandy beaches scattered along the soft southern coastline. We are an excellent base for exploring the many beautiful, practical & various beaches in South Cornwall & South Devon.
Alternatively the Atlantic Coast, which is well within an hours drive, is home to some of Europe’s top surfing destinations and offers more rugged and striking scenery.
With so many variations of beach types within a short drive you are spoilt for choice, whether is to paddle your feet, build sandcastles, surf the infamous waves, try a new water sport or to find quiet secluded cove to relax and just read a book, see below for a selection of suggestions;
- Seaton Beach. Located just 8 miles from Crylla Valley is the picturesque beach of Seaton, with level access, designated parking and full facilities. Dogs are welcome all year round. There is also a café, pub, shop, children’s play area and nature walk.
- Whitsand Bay. Fantastic views from the coast road above the bay are on offer with many beaches available to explore, three miles in total. Most are accessed from cliff paths with car parks above and dogs are welcome all year. Some great spots for surfing and bodyboarding. Approximately a 25 minute drive away. Image shown above.
- Looe Harbour and Beach. As pictured above. Famous for its fish and chips, pasties, ice creams and seagulls!! A great day out for the whole family giving you the option of a fun packed day by the seaside. All the amenities you could want are within walking distance of the beach itself. Sorry no dogs allowed. - Kingsand and Cawsand. Picturesque twin villages on the Rame Peninsula located in South East Cornwall. The villages are well known for their smuggling and fishing past. Although the known smuggling tunnels have been sealed up, there are still old fish cellars and boat stores to be seen along the coast The villages contain no fewer than 5 pubs that serve both drinks and food. Shingle beaches, dogs are welcome all year on Kingsand. As illustrated above.
- Fistral. Possibly the most famous surf break in Cornwall and the mecca for British surfing, an hours drive from Crylla Valley and well worth a day trip, you can book a surfing lesson or just set up for the day and watch the experts as you work on your tan!! Plenty of pubs to stop at on your way back and enjoy a nice meal.
- Watergate Bay. Situated on the Atlantic Coast, with great facilities including toilets, beach bar, local pub and the famous Jamie Oliver restaurant ‘Fifteen’ where you can book breakfast, lunch or dinner. Surf and Kite Surfing lessons are also available. Dogs are welcome all year.
- Polzeath. A great family beach, bucket and spade needed!! With plenty of space, rockpools, easy access and parking it couldn’t be simpler. Plenty of shops selling beach accessories, sunscreen, food, drink and ice creams. Lifeguards patrol seasonally.
- Harlyn Bay. Located in the Trevose Head area not far from Padstow, Harlyn Bay is very picturesque and beautiful offering excellent and sheltered bathing waters patrolled by lifeguards, a safe place for all the children, great access and parking. Dogs are welcome all year.
- Bigbury-On-Sea. Located on the south coast of Devon approximately 250 metres from the tidal island of Burgh Island. The Burgh Island hotel is famous for its stunning Art Deco architecture and is closely linked to Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot mystery, Lovejoy & GMTV's Inch-loss Island to name a few.A fantastic beach with fantastic amienties fun for all the family.
- Bantham. Another fantasic family beach a firm favourite with guests of Crylla and us, giving you the oppourtunity to see the stunning & diverse south coast of Devon. Facilties & parking as well as Lifeguard on patrol in the peak season. Not to be missed - a great day at the beach. As shown above.
