Carve a home-grown pumpkin for Halloween
While our guests are on holiday in Cornwall we do like to keep them busy! The October half-term is perfect timing to hold a pumpkin carving competition especially as we have grown our own pumpkins. Don’t worry it wasn’t just the guests given the task of carving Laura and myself decided to give it a go and yes we did take it very seriously. Here are a few tips on how to carve a pumpkin:
- Draw an outline of the pumpkin lid with a broad tip pencil and carefully cut out the lid.
- Scoop out the seeds and stringy material leaving the pumpkin wall at least 3 cm thick.
- With a broad tip pencil draw the outline of your design.
- Carefully cut out the outline and push the shapes out gently with your fingers.
- Place a tealight inside and light it.
Very simple but great fun!
