Family Day out at Saltram House
Approximately 10 miles from Crylla Valley Holiday Cottages and only 2 miles off the A38 at Plympton stands Saltram House.
High above the River Plym it is a hidden treasure which is situated within the peace and quiet of its own estate.
Saltram House is an elegant George II mansion housing its original contents from the Tudor and late Stuart era. It was once the home of the Parker family for nearly 300 years and claims to be the largest country house in Devon.
Items of interest include paintings by Sir Joshua Reynolds, a magnificently designed dining room and saloon by Robert Adam and includes superb plasterwork and decorations dating from the 1780’s along with a Georgian kitchen, all of which made it an ideal settings for the film sense and sensibility.
Once outside you can stroll around the large gardens visiting the orangery, the chapel housing a fine art collection, stables and other fine buildings.
You can check opening times with the National Trust who maintain the estate to such a high standard.
