Why You Should Choose Cornwall For Your Next Holiday

Why You Should Choose Cornwall For Your Next Holiday

Cornwall has a picturesque reputation for its luxurious coastline and scenery, not to mention its better-than-most-of-England weather! The southwest corner of the UK has a lot to offer, and a holiday in Cornwall can be relatively inexpensive. The fact that it’s a “staycation” (i.e. you don’t have to get on a plane) is an advantage for many people also! There’s a reason that people still holiday in Cornwall, as opposed to some more faded and mediocre seaside resorts, so read on as we explain a few of Cornwall’s most attractive features.

The Beaches

Cornwall is famous for its beaches, so it’s no surprise that we had to mention them! The county arguably has the best beaches in the UK, and has over 433 miles of coastline to choose from. Perranporth and St. Ives beaches are among its most frequented, and you can even check out the coast around Land’s End.  With great beaches comes great surfing. The UK isn’t exactly known for its huge surfing scene, but the West Country happens to have the ideal weather and sea conditions for surfing in the UK. One of the more well-known surfing spots in Cornwall is Fistral Beach in Newquay, but there are dozens of incredible beaches all along the North and South coast of Cornwall where you can catch some amazing waves – if you know where to look!

Cornish Food

Famous for its pasties and clotted cream; Cornish cuisine is some of the UK’s most renowned. Did you know that Cornish Pasties contribute over £150m to the county’s economy every year? After all, what’s a holiday in Cornwall without a pasty or an ice cream?  Travellers Tip: If you buy an ice cream in Cornwall ask for a dollop of Cornish clotted cream on the top.  You won’t regret it!

Spas and Resorts

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to stay in a Fawlty Towers-esque B & B anymore. The West Country’s popularity and climate have seen it play host to a plethora of luxurious spas and resorts in recent years – ideal for couples or stressed-out individuals.

Cottages

Looking to have a really authentic holiday in Cornwall? You’d better stay in a cottage then! Cornish cottages are known for their cosy, homely feel and picturesque settings.  Why stay in a soulless hotel when you can enjoy a home from home in beautiful surroundings such as Crylla Valley?

The Minack Theatre

You know what’s better than the theatre? Having the theatre outside.  No Cornwall holiday is complete with a visit to the famous Minack Theatre, currently the #1 TripAdvisor attraction for Cornwall.  This elegant open-air theatre hosts performances throughout the summer months. Some of the recent shows put on here include Pride and Prejudice, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Vicar of Dibley and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  There really is something for everyone, and guaranteed to be a unique and memorable experience for all.

We hope we’ve given you some convincing reasons to try a holiday in Cornwall. The Southwest corner of England attracts over 5 million tourists every year (as opposed to it’s 500,000 population) so we must be doing something right here!

If you’re thinking about a holiday in Cornwall then why not stay in one of our homely, self catering cottages?  Set in idyllic, peaceful countryside surroundings with free access to local leisure facilities you can experience everything Cornwall has to offer.
