5 Day itinerary for a family on holiday in South East Cornwall

Day 1

Morning: Head to the Eden Project, a world-famous ecological park featuring giant biomes filled with exotic plants from around the world. Spend the morning exploring the different environments and learning about sustainability.

Lunch: Grab a bite to eat at one of the on-site cafes or restaurants.

Afternoon: Drive to the nearby village of Mevagissey, a quaint fishing village with narrow streets and colourful houses. Take a stroll around the harbour, watch the boats come in, and browse the local shops and galleries.

Evening: Return to your cottage and relax for the evening.

Day 2

Morning: Take a short drive to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, another stunning botanical garden with over 200 acres of grounds to explore. Check out the jungle-like canopy walk, the Victorian productive gardens, and the farm animals.

Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch in one of the garden’s picturesque spots.

Afternoon: Drive to the nearby town of Penzance and visit the iconic St Michael’s Mount, a tidal island topped by a medieval castle and chapel. Take a boat ride over to the island and spend the afternoon exploring the castle and gardens.

Day 5

Morning: Take a walk along the South West Coast Path, a stunning walking route that hugs the coastline of South East Cornwall. Pick a section that suits your family’s abilities and interests.

Lunch: Stop for lunch at a seaside cafe or pub.

Afternoon: Visit the nearby village of Looe, a charming fishing village with a sandy beach and plenty of shops and cafes. Take a boat ride up the river, visit the aquarium, or simply stroll around the harbour.

Evening: Return to your cottage and relax for the evening.
